The airport is served by Delta, Continental, Hooters Air, Northwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and US Airways offering daily, nonstop flights to over 20 destinations. The airport is in the midst of a redevelopment and expansion plan that will add a new terminal complex and renovate existing terminal facilities in order to better accommodate projected passenger levels. You can expect to see some hard hat areas as you're making your way to the beach or the golf links.

More Details: This state park claims to be one of the finest bird watching site on the East Coast. It has a freshwater lagoon, a salt marsh, two nature trails and a beach, camping sites and cabins and coastal exploration programs at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. The boardwalks extend into the marsh for wildlife viewing, and you can fish from the jetty or the pier with equipment borrowed for free. This is also the site of Atalaya, the summer home of Archer and sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington who established Brookgreen Gardens.

Cherry Grove Fishing Pier

More Details: The Cherry Grove Fishing Pier extends 985 feet into the Atlantic Ocean so there is plenty of room for fishing for both serious and casual fishing enthusiasts. For those who don't care to fish, there is a 2-tier viewing deck which provides a magnificent view of the ocean and surrounding area. The biggest tiger shark ever caught was caught at this pier. Other fishing records include a second place king, a first-place sheepshead, and a record whiting.

More Details: Spectacular is the only way to describe this miniature golf course. Home of the Masters of Miniature Golf, it was featured in the movie Chasers and written up in Southern Living and US Air's Inflight Magazine. The course is very challenging and exciting, but could be frightening to young children. It is landscaped around the 40-foot lava rock volcano, which erupts and trembles every 20 minutes. The cost is $7 and there are special rates for children. Cash only; credit cards not accepted.
Brookgreen Gardens

More than 500 works of American sculptors are on display in the gardens, as well as wildlife and historical exhibits of South Carolina animals and artifacts. More Details: Located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, Jurassic Golf is a great place to spend a couple of hours either during the day or at night. You'll swear you've been transported to Jurassic Park itself. There are two colorful, interesting 18-hole courses with dinosaurs and other reptiles that squawk and hiss and plenty of jungle to play through and around. One course has more obstacles than the other and can be considerably more frustrating for younger children. Both are a very entertaining. Cost is $6 for adults; children under 4 free.
