More Details: Having traveled around the world more than 40 times, Wilbur May amassed an astounding collection of artifacts. He was a philanthropist of the first order and left a marvelous legacy for generations to enjoy. His collection includes T'ang Dynasty pottery, primitive African treasures and Egyptian artifacts. A genuine shrunken head is in there somewhere. The trophy room displays big game from around the world; the tack room is loaded with western memorabilia. Hoover Dam

More Details: Completed in 1935, after five years of intensive construction, the Hoover Dam is a modern engineering marvel. It stretches 1247ft across the Colorado River, holding in Lake Mead the equivalent volume of two years? worth of the river?s flow. Thousands of workers were involved in the project, which provided much needed employment during the Great Depression, although tragically 96 men died in industrial accidents during its construction. The dam contains 3,250,000 cubic yards of concrete. It provides flood control and functions primarily as a storage reservoir, supplying water to southern Nevada, southern California and Arizona. A natural by-product is power generation, with electricity transmitted to Nevada, as well as nearby California and Arizona. Visitor tours examine the construction of the dam and explore its hydroelectric generating facilities, whilst the Hoover Dam Visitor Center features displays on the engineering process and the operation of the dam

Red Rock Canyon

More Details: This park is named for the 3,000-foot-high sandstone cliffs that can be viewed from a 13-mile paved loop. A visitor's center provides information on area wildlife and flora, as well as Native American history. Rangers conduct guided hikes at no charge. Visitors may run across burros, big horn sheep or desert tortoises. The area provides prime hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking opportunities. Admission is USD5 per motor vehicle, USD2 per motorcycle. Unlimited access annual passes are available for USD20. Visitors may park at the entrance and hike or bicycle into the park at no charge.

More Details: Billed as the only banked oval Super Stock Car Track in the West, this is a seven-acre park with racing available in adult Grand Prix cars, go-karts and kiddie karts. Four different mini-tracks are available and they are all lighted to have fun in the cool of the evening. The cost is USD5 per ride. You can purchase five rides for USD25.00. Kids must be at least 54-inches tall to ride in the faster cars.

More Details: This is America's tallest observation tower, rising 1,149 feet above the city streets. Located at the Stratosphere Hotel, it houses two hair-raising rides. The Let It Ride High Roller is the world's highest coaster and is guaranteed to provide the ride of a lifetime. The Big Shot shoots riders 160 feet into the air where they experience zero gravity then free fall to the platform, which is 800 feet above the street. More Details: This facility is totally far out! Learn how much you would weigh on Venus and about black holes in the universe. In the Star Theater, visitors recline in comfortable seats while the heavens open above them on the Skydome screen. Among the many exhibits, you can see a meteorite weighing more than one ton that actually fell in Nevada. From pianos and candelabras to costumes, jewelry, furniture and cars, these buildings house a collection that exudes the outrageous style of Mr. Showmanship himself. More Details: Golf Digest rated this course in the Top Ten in Nevada. Designed by Johnny Miller and Chi Chi Rodriguez, it has 7,000 yards and 27 holes of championship golf. If you need some expert instruction, the Ken Venturi Golf Academy is located here. The open course does mean that wind can become a major problem during play. Each hole has five to six tees to ensure that the course is challenging for players at every level of the game. Rounds, including carts, range from USD110 to USD235 depending on the season.
