The first of its kind in the world, this theatre and studio has the remarkable ability to offer not only the 2,000 saleable seats within, but also millions through pay-per-view technology combined with the Internet. Formerly the old Union High School auditorium, this place was changed forever through a multi-million dollar renovation. It once hosted entertaining greats Doris Day and Wayne Newton; now it features comedy, concert and sporting events. More Details: This notable theater was built in the 60s, originally a conference center. Currently a venue for sound and stage, many popular artists utilize it for concerts. Popular entertainers who have performed here include Garth Brooks, Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin and Diana Ross. It seats 1,888-2,650, depending on the stage conversion. It offers a theater-in-the-round style arrangement or adjusts to a proscenium stage, based on production needs. Ample secured parking is available for USD5. Orpheum Theater

More Details: Located in the center of Phoenix, this is the last existing historic theater facility. Built in 1929, the Spanish Baroque-style building underwent major transformation after its purchase by the city of Phoenix in 1984. January of 1997 saw it's reopening for visitor use. This facility is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Currently utilized for civic events, performing arts and touring productions, the venue seats 1,400. Grady Gammage Memorial Auditorium

More Details: Frank Lloyd Wright designed this striking auditorium in 1959. Newly renovated, it hosts a bevy of plays, concerts and musical performances; this rounded structure is a local landmark. Visual art displays are exhibited throughout the season in the galleries, which are open weekdays from 1p until 4p. Hours may vary, please call for availability. More Details: Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is located in Phoenix, Ariz., were the great expanse of blue sky is like a sea above the desert landscape. The airport is served by 18 major airlines and three commuter airlines providing nonstop flights to 89 cites in the U.S. and 17 cities in Canada, Mexico and Europe. There are three terminal buildings - Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Terminal 4. Each terminal has its own parking garage, car rental facilities, shops, restaurants, services and ground transportation facilities. Free transportation between terminals is provided by green and white inter-terminal shuttle buses. The airport recently opened a Stage & Go lot where drivers wait in their vehicles, free of charge, while passengers deplane, pick up luggage and walk out to the curb - eliminating the need to circle the terminals. The airport was named the "Best Public Museum" in the August 2004 edition of Phoenix Magazine, because its extensive art collection is viewed by thousands of travelers who might never set foot in a museum.

More Details: This grassy valley, just north of the Mexican border around Bobaquivari Peak (sacred mountain of the Tohono O'odham people), is home to a multitude of deer, antelope, javelina and many species of birds. Workshops on nature photography are offered at the visitors' center, as are guided tours. It's also a great place for mountain biking. There are some services available at the town of Arivaca, but be advised to bring your own picnic lunch. To get there, take Highway 86 from Tucson to Three Points, then AZ Highway 286 south for 38 miles to the turnoff, marked with the refuge sign.


Temple of Music and Art

More Details: Patrons of the arts, demanding a proper environment for classical concerts in Tucson, helped raise most of the money necessary to build this imposing concert hall in 1927. The main building is home to a 600-seat theater, mainly used by the Arizona Theatre Company. There is a small art gallery on the second floor; the south wing contains a nice cafe, with a cabaret theater right above it, while the north wing holds a gift shop offering theatrical and musical souvenirs. Free backstage tours are given every Saturday at 11:30a, October through April.
